How to Choose a Fertility Provider

A neutral framework for evaluating any fertility clinic, in any country. See also the printable checklist on the next page.

Credentials and Licensing

Confirm physician subspecialty training, current licensure, and the regulatory status of the facility. In Mexico, licensed clinics operate under the Secretaría de Salud.

Laboratory Quality

Fertility outcomes depend heavily on embryology and andrology laboratories. Ask about laboratory accreditation, embryologist experience, incubator systems, and quality-control protocols.

Transparency

  • Clear itemized pricing with what is and is not included.
  • Success rates reported with age stratification and metric definitions.
  • Written treatment plan with rationale and alternatives.

Continuity and Communication

Identify who your point of contact is, response-time expectations, and how records are shared across visits — especially critical for international patients.

Ethics and Consent

Consent documents should be in a language you fully understand. Donor and third-party reproduction requires clear ethical and legal frameworks.
